Re: system restore

Hi niloc,

I really would run the security software Mumbodog has suggested.  You have all the signs of your PC being infected with malware and doing nothing could make the problem worse as the malware you already have could be downloading and installing more without your knowledge.

Regards,

Re: system restore

Hi sorry for the delay in replying, I didnt notice  you had posted as it was on ( page 2 ) , right I have carried out the downloads Mumbodog suggested and quarantined the offensive infections, the two DOS boxes have not come back since and my system is running OK   although a bit slower now I suppose that's because of the additional checks now being made   but I can live with that. I still have not booted up from the disc ( a bit apprehensive I suppose) do you still think that is necessary seeing as all seems well at the moment.   thank you to you both

[ Edited ]

You need to use the boot disc as suggested, it will remove infections that cannot be removed by the other 2 softwares. The re-run the other 2 softwares to clean up the registry.

I put them in an order to do for a reason.

Re: system restore

OK,  I booted from the disc and it seemed to be going OK in dos mood with the black screen, but then the kaspa; disc reported that the disc was outdated and needed to be updated but  when I clicked update nothing happened and I could not  go any further, I tried to do a capture screen but  when I went to paint to paste it nothing was there

Re: system restore

More problems.   I received an email from  http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html  asking me to update to the latest version of the spyware done that ,  then  I selected scan and what followed next was all my desktop icons

disappeared along with the task bar at the bottom of the screen so I have nothing to switch off with  or program selection

Re: system restore

Do a Ctrl+Alt+Del twice Task manger should open, then select "File" > New task, then type in explorer.exe, see if the desktop comes back.

Re: system restore

thankyou, but while I was waiting I dissconected  the mains and then the battery,  then put the battery and mains back and switched on again, selected open windows normally  and all seems well.

getting back to the  kasper disc when I mentioned the outdated issue  does it update from the web ? as I did notice that while it was running the top information bar stayed red with fix now displayed  and my wireless conection was not active,  so I tried the disc in my wired decktop pc and it updated and turned to green and ran perfect

Re: system restore

The 2010 version of the Kaspersky disc can update from the Web, not sure if it works with a wireless connection or not.
