updating bios to fix black screen

I have a pavilion g6 1a30us it goes to black screen and the caps lock blinks. (continually, no beeps)  I looked online and it said to update bios. So I tried to do that. When I updated the bios from the HP Support I get a message that says it cannot do that because I have 4 partitions.

Also I cannot use either the DVD or usb drives they stopped working a few months after I got the laptop.

Re: updating bios to fix black screen

Hey Kale25,

I'm sorry you're running into this boot issue. What blink pattern are you seeing? (Examples: 1-blink then a pause, 2-blinks and then a pause, 3-blinks and then a pause, etc.)

You could try rolling back the BIOS, rather than updating it. That may allow you to at least get Windows to load and then you can try updating the BIOS to the latest version.

Here are the steps for rolling back the BIOS

Regarding the DVD drive and USB ports, each computer comes with a standard 1-year warranty that would have covered those repairs. Did you call in about the issues?
