webcam not working

i have a hp pavilion dv6 laptop and my webcam quit working. device manager says it is working but when i try to click onto my youcam i get this message "no webcam detected. try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. if you are using an integrated camera, make sure that it is turned on." and i can not find an answer for what is going on!! please help!!!!

Hi
1) Click start in search type Recovery Manager then click on it select Yes on User access control then select I need immediate help then select Driver & application recovery select the Webcam driver and install it then restart the unit.

i tried the mentioned "fix" it still does not work all that happened was the color went from green to black.

i am not getting a picture at all just the warning message! i tried both suggestions.

Hi
The Last option i to run a recovery on your unit before this kindly back up your data at it will be lost even after this unit does not work then you might have to call HP Technical support and get the part replaced.

i saw that in my HP support assistant that some items in my history have a red circle with red X in it. how can i fix these as i seen they have to do with my webcam. i seen this after i restored to an earlier date.

I would like to know if the webcam is working fine now first.
Usally when webcam was not working then the error would have come in HPSA.

okay these items have not downloaded/installed correctly, is there a way to go in and re download/install these items from the hp support assistant action history page? i think this might have something to do with my webcam not working.
