why does my hp pavilion g7-1219wm keyboard not respond correctly

i just bought this laptop and for some reason the keyboard will stop responding correctly.  I will push the w key while in windows explorer and it minimizes the screen.  Then i try and type in the search bar and it won't type anything.  I don't know what is causing this.  Help please.

I know how frustrating things like this can be so hopefully this will help. I had the exact same problem and I thought I changed the settings somehow, but I called the hp support and they had me update my BIOS. There should be a BIOS update for this laptop. I'm not sure which update it was because he just sent me a link and didn't really pay attentions after that. In any case, it worked like a charm and the BIOS update worked. Good Luck
