Laptop starts and then I get the screen the shows  we apologize etc etc.  I tried the choice of Start Windows Normally. After selecting Normal start I get a blank page and it never goes beyound that page.  I also tried Safe Mode, in Safe Mode I get a full page of lines showing all the Drivers & it stops there and stays there.  Any Idea how to fix this or what the problem is.  Was working fine the other day

HP Laptop Will not complete bootRe: zv 6123cl

Let me add that the computer starts with the HP loge and then does as described, you have to manually shut it off and I short tested the HD and it came back OK.  Anyone ever experience the same problem and what do you do, put the XP installation disk in, reformat and start over again?

The first thing to do is to reseat your memory modules. If that doesn't help then remove the battery and disconnect the ac adapter and depress and hold the power button for 15 seconds or so. Then try restarting your laptop after replacing the battery and/ or ac adapter.

Re: HP Laptop Will not complete bootRe: zv 6123cl

Kudo's, I have no idea, I thought it was something that HP put on the posts.   Anyway I will try your suggestions, hopefully this will work.  Only one thing I had to take it in to a shop to get one of the mem modules in as it is under the keyboard and I didn't want to try taking it apart and have a thousand pieces fall out.  Any idea if  it's pretty simple to get the keyboard off without all the keys etc falling out.  I pretty mechanically oriented so if it isn't a major deal maybe I will try it, the other module comes in from the rear so it is easy to get at.

I tried removing the Mem modules but only the rear as the front is under the keyboard, I removed the Battery and help the power button for at least 15 sec's and then replaced it and rebooted and I still have the same problem.  Any other ideas I shuld try.

Thanks

Re: HP Laptop Will not complete bootRe: zv 6123cl

I think I know what your problem is.

It is more than likely your motherboard video.

What it will do is past post then when you try to load any operating system it will just stop and sit there the power will stay on and the cd will power down.

You mite want to take it some where and have the video chip tested.

Re: HP Laptop Will not complete bootRe: zv 6123cl

Thanks for the input, I need to close this thread as I have fixed the problem.  I took it to a shop and it was a Bad HD. They did a diagnosis for free so I didn’t lose any money on that except I need to eventually get a new laptop. It’s too old to fix so it is now gone.   I have a desktop so I can use that until I need to travel and need the laptop.
