1120C Won't Turn Off

My 1120C has the catridge light blinking and it also won't turn of using the on/off button. To date I have cleaned the backs of the cartridges, changed them to new ones and then cleaned the backs of those too. I have cleaned the pins in the ink carriage. I have also cycled the printer a few times by unplugging the cord and letting it sit for up to a half hour but the cartridge light keeps blinking and now it won't turn off using the appropriate button.

 

Any ideas anybody? I'm thinking its day has come. It might be dead. It's been around awhile.

The ink cartridges have a expiration date encoded in them. some times the printer reacts funny if the ink is out dated.

Mine will not fire up if the cartridges are out of date.
