This message has shown up in my printer and does not wont to go away.
It also does not allow me to perform any functions other then printing in black, bugger.
I have changed both color and black cartridges, but the message remains
I have switched on & off the printer, but the message remains
I have done a hard-reset twice (unplug, plug in and hold number 6 and # ) but the message remains
I have cleaned the contacts of both color and black ink, but the message remains.
I am really sorry, but I have lost faith in HP products...

Black ink has been refilled a month ago
Colour ink is brand new. When I first installed it, the message went away. Then, the next day, when I switched on the printer, the **bleep** message came back

Then there is the answer, using refilled supplies, may damage the printer if used constantly, the only option now will be to try and use original cartridges, if the problem goes away you are in luck, if it doesn´t then your printer needs to be replaced, and due to the model i doubt its still in warranty, but you can try calling hp, they will offer you an upgrade for a newer model (refurbished) with a 1 year warranty and starter supplies, or you can acquire a new one it´s up to you.

As the color cartridge is non-HP, there is a possibility that it's causing the problem.
You could try cleaning the contacts, as there could be some debris preventing a good connection (more details here )

thanks for your support.
Apparently the printer did not like the non-genuine cartridge, and was producing the annoying message.
Bought an original HP colour cartridge, and it is operational again !!

Don't know whether you are still monitoring this, but I have just had the second color cartridge fail, showing this message, while there is still ink in the cartridge. Is there any way to force the printer to operate on just the black cartridge?
