7310 Error

My 7310 has an error message on the screen that says: Remove and check color cartridge.

I changed my color cartridge because it was low. I cannot get the new ones to work. I tried another new hp97 cartridge, and the same thing comes up. I tried the cleaning procedures in the troubleshooting instructions. No change. I did a semi full reset. That did not work. I could not get the unit to align cartridges. The screen would not go or do anything until I reset the English language, etc. before I could enter other instructions it would automatically go back to error message. I need to get this running asap. Any ideas?

Re: 7310 Error

I am not familiar with the 7310 but I have some suggestions for you. Does your printer have print heads? If so, have you check the one for black? Are your cartridges true printer manufacturer made cartridges? Are they refills or remanufactured by a third party?

Assuming you use Windows, have you tried uninstalling the manufacturer's software, defraging your hard disk and running registry clean and repair utilities & then reinstalling the software.

You could also visit the stratitech website and search for the instructions on how to refill your cartridges. Read them to see if special steps need to be taken in order to get your printer to reset a refilled cartridge. You could follow those steps and see if that gets your cartridge recognized

Re: 7310 Error

I believe I have found the problem. The plastic tab that holds the wire spring (behind where the ink cartridge goes) in place is broken. This seems to be a common problem.

Re: 7310 Error

it was a common problem with some Officejet 7300 and 7400 series printers, and HP was replacing ones which fell under a certain serial number range free of cost. but that ended on 31st dec. 2008, so tough luck.
