I am interested in purchasing an HP 8600 printer but get conflicting opinions regarding its photo print quality.  Anyone care to share/

Re: 8600 Photo Quality

HI,

As part of my job is delivering training to support agents i actually spend some time printing on this printer. And my opinions is that for a document printer it prints pictures really well, when using the correct paper and the correct settings. Just always make sure you use HP paper that is suited for this printer, as other brands (while being good quality paper) are not specificly designed to work with the ink that the 8600 uses. In one of the training sessions i printed a picture of one of the trainees that went on vacantion to Iceland and he had some great pictures of the Aurora Borealis. They turned out beautiful to my opionion and the agent agreed.

Re: 8600 Photo Quality

I have OJ 8600 Plus Printer. I also have Photosmart C310a. My experience with the OJ Plus Printer, photo quality is pretty good and on the Photosmart C310a it's outstanding. Though I like the 8600, I use the Photosmart for printing photos. If you intend to print a lot of photos I'd consider getting something else.

Re: 8600 Photo Quality

If I print the same photos on  both HP and Kodak photo paper on my 8600, thed ones on the HP paper are darker than the ones on the Kodak paper. The photos on the Kodak paper are the same as the same photos printed on my old inkjet, so it's not the printer. I'm told that I MUST use Hp paper on this printer, but the results are sometimes so dark as to lose detail.
