I added a windows 7 computer on my network and for a time, my deskjet 6940 functioned as before. Could still alling cartridges and see ink levels. One day, that stopped. I reinstalled software for XP computer, but it did not resolve the issue. The printer is fine except for that. It doesn't get info from printer re ink etc. Checked work around info on HP but there is none. I am not happy.
I don't recall changing any settings on the XP computer to trigger this problem.
HP: what a shame!!!! We need to be green and just to upgrade to a new printer because there is no good driver is not terribly environmentally friendly.

Hi there,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
Best of Luck!

I think the message on HP's website is that toolbox is no longer available on windows 7. Sadly.
