Blue Screen Of Death / code B06998FC

Hello. I have a problem with my brand new Photosmart B210e, product number CN219A.

I tried to enter my product on this site, and HP does not recognize the product. Can anyone help?

I came here after finding Photosmart B210c, maybe it's close enough?

My printer keeps showing this blue screen, with a unmoving timer at the top,

second hand up at 12 oclock position.  B06998FC at the bottom.

I cannot turn off the printer with the power

button, even if I hold it down for a minute. Only unplugging works.

Then, it turns back on fine. I left it on overnight, then when I came back,

the same screen and code were there. The printer had not been used.

Does anyone know what causes this?

best wishes,

Ron

Seems like you've done the hard reset already and problem is still the same.

I would assume this printer is new and under warranty. So my advice? call HP tech support and they're more likely to just replace the hardware (printer) 1-800-474-6836

Re: Blue Screen Of Death / code B06998FC

I have had this same problem three times now. I just got off the phone with HP Support. They could not tell me what the problem was, but just had me do a hard reset. I have done that the other two times as well. They never said anything was wrong with it, cause it worked after i plugged it back in. Duh! Ok I think this one has an issue and will probably take it back to where I got it and get another one that is hopefully not as lemmony as this one is. It does not like to be unpluged as opposed to using power button, and the day after my warranty is up it will no doubt just sit back and laugh at me as it dies a slow painful death.:smileymad:

Re: Blue Screen Of Death / code B06998FC

I have the same problem.  Mine is a Photosmart Plus, model B210a.  I pull the plug, re-plug it and it tells me that I should not pull the plug, but you are right.  There is no other way to get it to work otherwise.  Then it will work fine for a few days and then the same blue of screen of death shows up again.  I have not found any updates that will help this situation.

This printer is less than a month old.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death / code B06998FC

I also have this problem with the B210e. Occasonally, I get a lockup without the blue screen.

I read somewhere that there is a firmware update coming. Does anybody have a timeline on this? When I search for the B210E on HP, nothing comes up.

Oh, well. HP replaced the printer with a B210A. Unfortunately, same blue screen of death b06998fc. Maybe it is time to give up.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death / code B06998FC --> SOLVED

Kudos to HP support. After my first support call, they replaced my B210E with a B210A. Unfortunately, the printer still locked up and displayed a blue screen. On my next support call, I was asked "is the printer connected to a surge suppressor?" to which I answered, "all my devices are connected to surge suppressors". So.... I was asked to plug it directly into the wall outlet and see what happened. It has now been >>24 hours without lockup. My conversation with HP today reveals that they have found this to be an occasional occurence and the solution is to plug the printer directly into the wall. Strange but who cares.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death / code B06998FC --> SOLVED

Sorry, but this does not solve the problem.  I bought a B210E from Best Buy in November.  Had this issue and had the printer plugged directly into the wall.  HP sent me a voucher to buy a new one and had a box sent to my house to send the old one back.  So I bought a B210A from the HP store.

Guess what.  Same problem.

Have since gotten online support and still have not gotten it fixed.

Anyone else have luck getting the issue resolved.  I'm going to call again today.
