Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

I downloaded and installed the driver patch "AIO_110_007.exe, (1/1 , 20.88M)" dated 4/18/2009.  According to the enhancements listed with the patch it fixes:  "Print margin accuracy: Resolves issue of last line of text being clipped for HP Deskjet D4200".  I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the last line is still being randomly being clipped off on my C7180.  Keep working on the problem, it shows you care about the quality of your product and your customer's satisfaction.

Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

My 7280 has been cropping the last line of my documents since purchased (over a year).  I have uninstalled with registry maintenance and reinstalled the drivers numerous times.  What a total waste of time that was.  The first few documents, software not important (Office all, Adobe, etc.) print fine....then the gremlins of this unacceptable driver malware take over and the problem starts all over again.  I have lost track of how much paper and ink wasted.  I have owned several HP products for over a decade and am now fed up.  The big question is, what product doesn't have these problems?

Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

Please download the HP Print Driver Update from the link below. You'll need to select the OS you're using first.

Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

[ Edited ]

Dexter,

I took a look at this new driver update that you are suggesting and all it says, in regard to this problem, is

Enhancements:
  • Microsoft Office 2007: prevents crashes in Excel and Power Point.
  • Duplex printing via network: prevents a false ""duplexer not connected"" error message.
  • Printing from Intuit applications: resolves inability to print from Intuit applications in Vista 64 bit OS.
  • Print margin accuracy: Resolves issue of last line of text being clipped for HP Deskjet D4200.
  • Thai language font: Resolves issue with printing Thai font incorrectly in Word 2007 in Vista.
  •

How does that help most of us who don't have a D4200?

I have a C6150 with this problem and the fellow you responded to has a C7280.

    Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

I'm not quite sure the reason why the update mentions the Print Margin issue is only for teh D4200. But since it's included, I suggest you try and install it anyways and see what happens.

    Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

I am also having random bottom border printing problems on both mine and my wife's C4580 wireless printers both using Vista Home Premium. Happens with Excel, Simply Accounting and Word. Very disappointed with HP regarding this. Am checking now for patches and updates.

    Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

I am facing the same problem with random bottom cut printing with my 2 L7590 printer. I tried installing the "Critical Update to Correct a PC to Printer Communication Issue" but did not solve the bottom cut printing! I called the HP customer support about this problem but was told that thet did not receive any similar problem from other people. I am very disppointed with this L7590 printer which I have requested to replace for a few times but still with the same and other problems.

Even the latest driver "Critical Update to Enhance Reliability of Network and USB Connectivity and Improve System Responsiveness While Printing" give more problems that it suppose to solve. After installing, I followed instructions to search for the printer to resintall the driver but i was not able to scan using my solution center (no connection to the printer from my laptop) or through the Scan to on the printer which cannot detect my laptop at all. I am using wireless to connect to my printer.

Guess there is a lot of bugs in the drivers, it seems that the file may not spool completely which lead to bottom cut printing or should the printer should have handshake to verify the completeness of the file spooled? This is just my guess.

    Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

I noticed no improvement after the last HP update regarding lines not printing. I also contacted HP online and they suggested the normal things of changing fonts and font size and adjusting borders and if that fails to solve things then to install the HP deskjet 990c print driver. I did not use these suggestions yet as the font/margin thing I was already wondering abo  and I can't see tampering with the drivers on a machine I've had just a month.

I decided to tick the box "scale to paper size" in Printing preferences\Features tab\Resizing Options. Too early to tell if this did anything, but easy to switch back if I want. I may play around with the fonts again in certain programs.

    Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

Certainly no fix for me with the new driver. Very dissapointed :smileysad:

Only thing that works is the 990C driver.

Wish I never bought that C7280

    Re: Bottom Border Printing problem

Well, the "scale to fit" did not work and on an invoice for Simply Accounting today. The last line just did not print. So, I guess in the meantime one just proof reads each document to make sure the last line is there until a proper solution comes along which should be in a future HP update and/or patch.

I don't want to install drivers for the desk Jet 990c printer as suggested by HP. I just want to print what I send from my newish Dell Notebook to my new HP printer. If the drivers on a new printer don't work or can't be fixed with an update to run on Vista Home Premium then maybe I should just fire up my old Lexmark Ink Jet that worked just fine. I only replaced it to get the "All In One" features, not thinking the HP printer would be unreliable.

I can only think that this sort of nonsense really tarnishes HP's reputation. I hope finally send out an update with a proper permanent solution. It's the proper thing to do.
