C6180: error code 83C00020?

I cannot get the unit to work at all, it will not turn on or off. On the display screen I get the error message 83C00020 and the memory card light continues to blink on and off.  I will not print, scan, fax or copy.  I cannot override, I have tried the # and 6 reset but to no avail.  I have called tech support and they said it was a 'hardware' problem that could not be fixed at home.  Of course, they wanted to sell me a new printer!?!  Any suggestions?  I am stumped and frustrated.

A "friend" gave me his C6180 with the very same error you are having.

Does HP actually support this printer??

Shall I use it as a boat anchor?

Re: error code 83C00020?

Try this it worked for me!  Unplug usb ,phone cord then power cord for a few seconds. While holding down the (OK) and (ON) buttons plug power cord back in. It should get you out of the error code screen. Then you should be able to do the number (6) and (#) button reset as found on HP site! I hope this works for you as well.

    Good luck!

Re: C6180: error code 83C00020?

I have the same problem with my C8180 all in one.  It doesn't have an Ok button other than on the touchscreen that is just showing the 83C00020 code so I can't unplug and push the Ok and power button and plug it back in.  Is there a part that I can replace on this printer?  I've only had it a couple fo years and it has worked fine up until a power outage last month.

I want to repair it not replace it just like i do for my other apliances in my home.  This stuff shouldn't be throw away HP!!!!

Re: C6180: error code 83C00020?

Same error code here.  I've spent two weeks searching (off and on) for some help, but everyone says the same thing - HP 'Support' charges you $25.00, if your warranty is out, to tell you there is no fix for the problem, i.e., buy a new printer.  The $25.00 is okay IF they could offer a fix, but that's not what I'm finding.   This piece of junk was  $297.00, used for only a few hours combined, and now it's useless.  HP will never have to worry about me buying another one of their products. EVER!

Truth is, I feel like I've been scammed.  What a crying shame for a company the size of HP to do this to customers.  No wonder Ms. Whitman is so filthy rich!  She and HP feed off suckers like me.

Re: C6180: error code 83C00020?

I feel a little ripped off myself.  I loved the printer at first then it has been nothing but trouble, hard to get on, it would keep restarting then the error code 83C00020. Now I can't get the printer on at all, for the price of it HP should help out a little.  Really disappointed in this printer and HP.
