Expired ink

How can I tell if an ink cartridge is expired? I have several of each color and keep getting error messages that the ink is expired and needs to be replaced. is there any coding on the packaging?

Re: Expired ink

Hello Sandy705,

Dont know which model you have, but normally there is a date on the cartridge itself, so take it out and check it. :-)

Re: Expired ink

I also have an expired-ink question.

Can I use ink that has passed the expiration date on the carton?

It says:  SINGAPORE JUL 2010.  And it's now May, 2011.

Thanks!

For some printers, the expired ink can still be used but for others it can't.  The full details, including an explaination of why is available here.

Re: Expired ink

Unfortunately the above information doesn't seem correct. According to the article  about expired ink on the HP website,

It's important to note that the ink expiration date is NOT the date stamped or printed on the ink supply. Rather, the printed date on all HP inkjet supplies is the “Warranty ends” date. To determine the ink expiration date on a particular supply, the consumer needs to consider three factors: the ink supply, its warranty date, and the date on which the cartridge is initially installed.

Re: Expired ink

I've just replaced an ink cartridge on my HP C6180 printer with a newly purchased, fresh cartridge. The printer still insists the cartridge is expired. The physical date I see on the cartridge is displayed as:

2014

7/10

Should I assume this means the cartridge ex-date is July 10, 2014? If yes, then there is apparently a different issue with my printer. Very annoying.

Re: Expired ink

Hi, for the PS C6180 you should be able to override the Expiration msg. Are you seeing any way to OK the msg to continue printing?....
