Hello- HELP!
We just bought this all-in-one printer at Walmart, and did the initial setup with no problems. Copying works, and color configuration was not an issue. Now I'm trying to use the included software CD to allow my laptop to send docs wirelessly. Unfortunately the WEP encryption code on my laptop had to be changed to WPA/2 in order for my wife to be able to use her iPad (when it first came out) as required by Apple. Because of the age of my laptop IBM Thinkpad XP (2002), and our cable service thru Verizon/FIOS... that's the only way that my wife's iPad would function wirelessly- the aforementioned encryption code change made my wireless capability on the laptop inoperative. In other words, the laptop has to be connected to the FIOS router- at all times to work. I have tried via two Tech Pros to upgrade my laptop to WPA/2 and they gave up after great effort, stating that the unit is just too old.
Although I haven't tackled the Desktop computer, I also anticipate issues. This is a 2 year old computer that my wife 'inherited' recently, and it has a lame Windows Beta O/S on it that I would rather remove and install 7 Pro on (I just received the CD from my brother-in-law). Once that happens I hope to insert the CD for wireless capability and go from there. I need help, because I am a senior citizen who has used computers at work and home since the early 90's, but have very little technical awareness on how to 'fix' things like this. I would appreciate any help that can be given; even a phone call would be a consideration. Please let me know if that is possible also. Text communication is so very limited and laborious. Thank you, ~Santos

Hello Sentos,
I hope I fully understood the problem you are facing and the printer fails to connect to your router, please clarify if I missunderstood your intention.
There is a known issue which prevents connecting teh printer to a Verizon Fios router, please follow the steps listed below to troubleshoot the problem and connect the printer to your router:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
MAke sure to complete the initial setup using the Windows XP computer, then you may add the printer to your Windows 8 machine by going to Control Panel > Devicea and Printers and adding a Device.
Hope you may find it helpful,
Shlomi
