My F4440 now makes a "ratatatat" noise as the cartridges move inside --- when the printer is first powered on, and before any printing or copying. How to get rid of it? What does it mean?

Thank you --- but that's not it. The ratatatatat sound is very loud and comes from the inside right where the cartridges move to and then from when the printer is turned on, etc. In fact, after I checked the rollers, etc., I left the front door down so that I could see what went on when I plugged the power cord back in and powered on the printer: The cartridges moved to the right (as one faces the printer) --- then the loud ratatatatat from inside to the right --- and the cartridges moved away to the left. When I closed the front door of the printer, the cartridges right shifted again --- ratatatatat from inside to the right --- and then they moved back again. Possibly these will be clues for the solution.

Another clue: I remember that the ratatatatat sound started a few 'days' ago after I heard a crack sound (one crack) come from inside the printer and to the right. I don't remember what might have caused it. But possibly a piece has broken and wedged inside. (?!)
