Hello, I have an Officejet Pro K5300

Microsoft Windows XP

Home Edition 2002

Service Pack 3.

Error Message reads "Cover Open"

Resume Button remains on.

No covers are open.

This happened after I changed the printing setup from "Automatic" to "Tray 1".

I have changed back to "automatic."

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and the light will not go off.

Can someone help me please.

Many thanks

Penny

Re: HP K5300

Make sure the rear access panel or the duplex unit is inserted completely at the back of the K5300.

Re: HP K5300

Thank you,  I have reopened and closed thinking that maybe it was not closed properly - it is snug and fitting.

Many thanks Penny

Re: HP K5300

Do you have a tray 2 installed?

Re: HP K5300

Have you tried a power reset?

Turn off the K5300.

Pull the power plug from the wall socket.

Wait 30 seconds.

Plug the power plug into the wall socket.

Power on the K5300.

Re: HP K5300

Hello, Just did,  the light is still on. Really appreciate your help - really don't need to be told a 3rd printer would be too expensive to fix!!

Many thanks

Re: HP K5300

Hello, let's try the reset again but this time remove the USB cable from the printer and then remove the power cord.

Now press the power button on the printer for 60 seconds.

Reconnect the power and USB cables.

Turn on the printer.

Is the resume still on?
