HP M1530 cannot connect in ToolboxFX

Hello!
I have an HP LaserJet M1530 MFP Series - Windows XP, Service Pack 2
My printer will print just fine in every program, however, HP Toolbox FX insists that it cannot connect to the device. When I load Toolbox FX it gives me a pop up box with a red circle/white x and states, "Cannot connect to the device - Make sure the power cord . . ." yada yada.
I still get the chastising pop up box warning when I run out of paper.
The most recent update was the critical update from HP.
Please help me fix this problem. Thank you.

Hi Wendywoowoo,
I am unable to locate the M1530. What is the exact model number of your printer?
Have you tried to uninstall & reininstall the printer using the drivers from the HP website?

Thank you for your reply. My model is HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP.
I have not uninstalled/reinstalled yet, but I will try that next. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Let me know if you still have the same issue after you uninstall and reinstall the printer.

PcWizard,
Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have fixed the problem. I noticed I incured this problem after the security update. Do you think that had something to do with it? Should I not install that update?

Hi PCWizard,
Today it started doing the original problem. I clicked on Toolbox FX to check my print cartridge levels and it gave me the "Cannot Connect to device . . ." pop up that it was doing as described in my first post on this thread. So uninstalling/reinstalling did not work.
However, while unstalling/reinstalling DID allow me to use the Toolbox FX feature again, reinstalling did not reinstall the scanner feature of my device. I had to go through the steps again to get it to recognize the scanner. SInce then I had not tried using Toolbox FX until now.
So I am back at square one and need your help!

I loaded the firmware, and I have used my computer over the last couple of days, turning it on and off each day (of course). I have been able to open and view the device status in Toolbox FX, and am not getting any error message. Also, the rest of the device (scanning, printing, etc.) is working as it should.
Thank you for your help! Will keep my fingers cross that it doesn't regress!
