HP Officejet 4500 Nameplate Error

When I press the on button, I see an error message on the printer display that reads "Attach HP Officejet nameplate firmly. Check for stuck buttons. Turn power OFF and ON again."
I can see that the nameplate recess on the printer is empty but I cannot find the nameplate anywhere, I've checked everything that came out of the box and the printer itself and there isnt one. It looks like the nameplate presses down on 4 switches and its stopping the printer from proceeding to the setup mode.
Does anyone know if the nameplate should be already attached when I open the box? The printer was bought brand new with all seals and packaging intact.

Hi - It definitely should have come with it either attached or included in the box. Typically it's already attached. I'm assuming you just purchased the printer? If so, I'd go ahead and take it back to the dealer to exchange it.

HP employee and fellow purchaser of the HP 4500 .....I am having the same issue. No nameplate inside the box and the printer giving me the same error information.
I do believe this is not an isolated event or set of events.
HP employee- is there another way to resolve this than running back and forth to where we actually bought the item- might this be something where if we looked in multiple boxes of the same printer then the nameplate may not be present?

Hi - The other option would be to call support. They may be able to send you the nameplate. Phone numbers for the support centers can be found here.
