HP Officejet 6500A Works but No Indicators

My HP Officejet 6500A prints and scans upon commands from my computer, but the printer power indicator light and touchscreen are dark. The printer is about 1 year old.

Hi,

 

Have you downloaded the latest Firmware update?  Here is the link to the update.

It is supposed to help with some power saving issues.

Thank you Captain TJ for the suggestion. I downloaded the firmware update, and tried to update the printer via a USB cable. (I couldn't update it via the printer control panel since the control panel was dark.) Unfortunately the "Select Printer" list that followed was blank, so I could not proceed further.
