HP Officejet Pro 8500A is leaking from the waste compartment

[ Edited ]

My HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One Printer - A910a (CM755a) is leaking black ink from the waste compartment. The amount of ink that it is releasing is a lot. I got ink everywhere. How can I fix it?

Hi Princessiris,

See if you can open up the lid on the printer and you should see some different color hoses. The hoses you see are what takes the ink from the cartridges to the printheads. Take a look at them and see if any of them specifically the black one has come unattached.

Also, is the printer in warranty or no ?

No. The printer has no warranty. The line a y thing else looks clean. But there was a puddle of ink right in the waste compartment. I also checked the printheads for possible leaking and they looked fine. The printer is leaking ink at the bottom right where the clips that join the body are.

That's a bummer that it's out of warranty. It sounds like this is a hardware issue.

I'm not sure if the leaking  makes the printer unusable to you but i know how expensive ink is and if you are loosing ink it might be better to buy a new printer or you can call in to the HP support line. Since it appears to be a hardware issue you wouldn't want to spend the money on a phone support warranty but if you explain to them what your problem is they can give you some options with the upgrade program that they have.

The printer works but need to fix it before the mess gets worse. I already have ink stains all over the carpet. This situation sucks because it is a really expensive printer.
