HP PSC 1400 only prints one column in OpenOffice landscape

I have trouble with printing two columns in landscape format. The columns have 2 cm space in between. The printer only prints out the right side of the page, leaving the left side empty (although while printing it seems to do the job, only no ink "sticks" to the paper. It's the only way I can explain it really...)  I use OpenOffice 3.1, but I also tried with Windows Office and the problem remained.
