Re: HP Smart Web Printing & Firefox 3.6

Hi!  I tried repeatedly to zip the files, but WinZip kept coming back with errors saying the files were read only.  I then changed the files from read only (deleted the check in the box), applied the changes, authorized it as an Administrator, but I kept getting the same error messages and when I'd go back and look at the files, they all said "read only" again.  How do I do this?  I'm using Windows 7, 64-bit OS.  I'd love to get the HP Smart Web Printing up and running on Firefox.

Thanks in advance.

Betty

Re: HP Smart Web Printing & Firefox 3.6

I am also seriously frustrated after purchasing a brand new HP with bells and whistles. Is HP in cahoots with Microsoft?

As long term client, this is very disappointing.

I use both Snag It and Fireshot, but it really would be great if this thing worked.

Frustrating. :smileysad:

Re: HP Smart Web Printing & Firefox 3.6

judupraz,

I followed you example and it created an add-on.  However, with Firefox ver 3.6.13, I get an error message.  When I click on the icon, it states that HP Smart Web Printing needs an update to work.   However, there is no update available.  Does this happen to you?  Thanks.

Re: HP Smart Web Printing & Firefox 3.6

I can't answer your question, I wish I knew the answer as well, its been driving me nuts for  a year like everyone else. However, I can make a prediction: Given that Firefox 4 is now up to Beta15, by the time HP get around to sorting out SWP for Firefox 3, it will be obsolete and still won't work with Firefox4!!

[ Edited ]

Nice to see that from 2009 till 2011 there are LOT of complaints about SWP but still not any reaction or answer from an HP representative. If that is cutomer service for the future, I think HP gonna get problems !!!! If they do not have them already.

In my PC store the sell the HP series for home and pro users but if you want them they directly say if you need reliability do not buy them, only their printers. Reason : return rate first year MORE than 70%, and even it is garantee, you do not want that to happen.

So I only want to replace my 3310 but if needed good photo and fax in 1 system that was difficult, better no fax and go for the wide range in photo with extra's OR go for business printer but bad quality. When I realy said I needed both they had to look in a portofolio and yes their it was, never to see in a shop but it exist, MY BRAND NEW C410 : Photosmart Premium Fax e-All in one C410. Yes it has all you want but when you now the cheapest one cost only 56 Euro, than it is expensive when they ask about 300 Euro for this machine.

So you install and yes their it is : SWP included and promoted but it does not function. Good for this machine, just sold in 2011 but it's software still not works when first problems where allready their and communicated on their own forum in 2009.

Realy HP, think about what is more important, money or sattisfied customers, not on this moment, dare to look into the future and plan in function of long term customer relations. Hope someone over at HP realy read this and will think about it, and send some answers this time. Well paid or not, everybody has the right when he pays money for a machine, that it properly works and functions too.

Sincerely yours,

Re: HP Smart Web Printing & Firefox 3.6

There is a similar issue with IE9 (at least HP say that they don't support Smart Web Printing (their new "HP Smart Print" software that is part of the HP Bing Bar, says "Only available for Internet Explorer") on Firefox, but they do say that they support IE6 or later. The latest browsers that they actually support are IE8 (not IE9) and FF 3.5.* (June 2009 release) :smileysurprised:. Interestingly, this forum (and other parts of the HP website) don't work properly with IE (I am using FF 4 to post here).

Re: HP Smart Web Printing & Firefox 3.6

Does that mean Firefox 3.6 and newer or only Foxfire 3.6?
