I have a problem with a new cartridge for my HP 5040. Black cartridge from Tesco is longer (i.e. sticks out further than previous) although it seems to click into place OK. According to info on pack, it is compatable. However, it won't work, cartridge light flashes showing problem. Any ideas? Thanks...

Is this printer a LaserJet, DeskJet, OfficeJet or Photosmart?  I'm not familiar with a 5040 printer that HP makes.  Can you provide the full product number?
