I would hope the store charges you for the product you damaged.
If you want a black cartrdige buy Black, if you need a photo cartridge buy Photo. The document here may help in identifying the proper cartridge.

FYI - I just bought new 564xl black and didn't pay attention to the label but just bought the "narrow" one thinging it was the photo black. It appears the size of the nonphoto black has been reduced to only 1 or 2/16 wider than the photo black, just big enough not to fit in the photo slot. Lesson learned - read the info on the package
