I have a new HP Photosmart 7510 C311a with trouble printing envelopes.

The 7510 does not print the addresses straight on envelopes. I have been careful putting the envelopes in the feeder which does not seem to be the problem. I believe turning the envelopes over (duplex printer) before printing causes the problem with alignment. Has anybody having this problem and has anybody fixed the problem.

Another issue I have with this printer is the print delay (Drying ink). My Photosmart C7280 is a duplex printer and had the ink drying issue but when you printed in draft mode it did not pause to dry the ink. This 7510 still has the pause when printing in draft mode which makes the print speed dismal.

Operating System is Windows 7 Ultimate. No changes since installing the printer.

You need to change the driver settings when printing envelopes so that duplex option is turned off. The C7280 printer used a different print mechanism that the 7510. With the new type of Ink being used in the new printers it will still require the printer to pause before pulling the paper back into the printer. This time is essential, so that you get a printout with good print quality.

If you want to permantly disable the duplexer unit right click on the printer in the printers folder, and chose Properties. Click on the Device Settings tab, and then change the installable option in Figure 1. If you just want to disable duplex on a print job open the Printer preferences before printing the document, and make sure that the Print on Both Sides is set to None (Refer to figure 2). Let me know if you need additional assistance.

In addition to turning off duplex printing when printing envelopes, I found a suggestion to insert the envelope flap into the body of the envelope before printing. This has solved the problem of the address printing skewed on the page. This is especially needed when printing 'press and stick' envelopes.
