I am curious if anybody else ran into this issue . I printed 124 pages and my black cartridge is out (cartridge is HP88 standard). What about the 850 pages yield that HP advertises. How come there is such a huge difference?
I want to go back to my black laser printer....
which was still an hp though...

Yes, I am aware of standards and what now BUT from a 5-600 (or whatever) the yield is on this **bleep** cartridge down to 124 pages is an outrage. I did only test printing with an occasional logo from a website.
The laser printer that I bought years ago (hp 3055) was pretty much right on the money with the page yield of which I was happy by the way. Having to see this however, on this printer it really bothered me. I think the post below yours has some good tips for folks out there. I will try to post again when I get some mileage out of this one and see if the settings do help (as they sound they might)
