LaserJet1018 -Duplex & Envelope printing -no screen

A friend has got a LJ1018 printer at home which works fine.

 

At work (windowsXP) the same printer won't do duplex or envelopes properly.

In duplex it prints the even pages then stops. No help/instruction screen comes up.  If I reload the paper, pull out the printer cable and reinsert it, then the odd pages print.

 

In envelope mode I have to pull out the cable and reinsert for each envelope!

 

Have done the HP diagnostic check & its says driver is correct.

Can't find any patches.

 

Anyone had/solved this?

For envelopes I used 'Customise'(or something) & specified dimensions just a bit different from the actual envelope.
