You can download the installation file from hp.com, and extract it to your temp folder. this will have the exact contents of the CD.

If you havent downloaded it yet, then do so, and get back to us.

DexterM, I have the same problem with the printer advising to replace the yellow ink. I have replaced the cartridge but still getting same message. I tried the solution you recommended earlier and still have the same problem. Any new suggestions.

I have the same error as narco, the yellow ink cartridge was replaced after the emty message was displayed. But the message to replace appears again, I have tryed with several yellow original HP cartridges but can't get it to accept it. The printer is now blocket!

I will be very happy for some help, I am about to replace the printer by a Canon, my HP Photosmart C5180 is only 2 years old and looks as new, but I am loosing my faith in HP soon!

Here is what I found out. I have the same problem with the yellow cartridge.  My unit was made in Malaysia and based on the serial number I was told it is a physical problem that HP is and has been aware of. However since I waited to long to call them and my unit is out of warranty they are no longer responsible for the shoddy construction and it is too bad for me.   My unit was sitting on a shelf because it didn't work and by the time I got a real answer, it was out of warranty.  HP was kind enough to offer me a discount on a new upgraded printer that amounted to about $15 more than I could buy it on the street.  Basically I now have a very expensive scanner with moderate abilities.  If you are still under warranty, I recommend you have them check the serial number and see if you can get it repaired before it becomes a brick.

Didn't have the option to uninstall from the CD, so re-installed, same problem.

UGH!  I have the same exact problem, ie several yellow cartridge changes.  My lovely printer was also manufactured in Malaysia.  I just emailed customer support and am hoping for a recent fix or something besides "you're SOL".  Anyone heard of anything new to try?

Dexter, sounds like you can me as well. I am away from home with the same issue and can't get to CD. I down loaded driver from website and saved to my desk top the exe file. Where do I go from here? Thanks

Have done what you said with the RUN . It worked a treat many many thanks, larp999.

I simply reinstalled the driver from the hp.com site and then reconnected the printer and the problem has be fixed completely!!!
