Photosmart C6180 - can I print foreground only?

In order to save ink, there are times when I would like to  print only the text, but not the colored background. Is there a way to do this?

Can this also be done when copying a document with a colored background?

Re: Photosmart C6180 - can I print foreground only?

If you mean printing webpages, those usually don't print the background anyway. Use Print Preview to be sure. For documents that would have included a background, you can cut and paste the text into a blank document. As a side note, you can save ink by printing in fast draft, and, if you have good eyes, two pages per sheet of paper. Regards, CF

If you are printing a web page from IE there is a setting in Tools, Advanced, Printing that selects whether or not the background will print.  I do not know of a way to turn off the background when copying.  You may have good results by selecting a black copy and selecting a lighter output.
