I have a photosmart C7280 all in one printer and I am getting a series of errors. First one is that even when not using it the following printer panel lights will all flash; statement; Photo menu; Red Eye; Print Photos; Auto Answer; power Button and card light. Also the printer screen panel goes blue with the following number on it B851FE84.
I have been on the HP support site and tried all the options to no avail - when I tried the disconnect power cable from printer and unplug the power lead, wait 15 secs and then plug it all back in the printer came back on but with a blue screen message on the printer B8080598.
I was using wireless connection but when I started getting these problems I turned the wireless off and hard wired it with an ethernet cable but the errors continued. I have downloaded the HP Diagnostic tool and that does not report any errors. Plus it reported I have the latest driver.
My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate and I have the latest updates on that.
Can anyone shed some light on this please.

I have exactly the same issue... B8073EE8 and many others. Yesterday I wasn't able to turn on the printer at all. First I thought it's the power cord, but it wasn't. However, then - I think - I got a visit from an HP printer fairy since it worked again this morning... the fairy, though, didn't do a thorough job and I still end up with the blue screen and random number error messages...
Any help would be appreciated.

I have been experiencing a similar issue. All the lights on the front are flashing and I have a blue screen with a little round symbol in it. Can't turn it off. Have to unplug. The first time it happened unplugging was the solution, but today the after I plugged it back in all the light came on even tho I never turned it on after the re-plug. Anyone know what is going on?

I'm having the same problem. Printer turns itself on in the middle of the night and I wake up to flashing lights. Same blue screen with a different sequence of letters/numbers each time. Tried unplugging, uninstalling and reinstalling. HP website is no help! I don't know what else to try. Of course it's out of warranty.

I am having the same problem both wireless and usb connected. It started last week and I noticed one or two others appeared to have started around the same time. 11-01-11. Could this date be coincidental? Once I have powered down and re-started the printer works as normal. I live in the UK and use my printer most days. It is approimately 2 years old. HELP!!!

Exact same issue for me as well. I purchased the C7280 printer for my father Dec 2008 and he calls me last week reporting the blinking lights and blue screen.
I find it very unfortunate that HP is not taking the time to at least acknowledge the numerous postings on this issue. Perhaps there is a design issue, which happens with technology unfortuately, but at least give all these customers some response before this goes viral on the net and causes more serious issues for HP.
As it stands right now, I will looking at throwing out a 2 year old printer and buy another. What happended to old HP printers that lasted several years without issue?

I am having the same issue. At first disconnecting the power cord solved the problem. Lately that has to be dome 3 or 4 times. HP website seems to indicate a system board that should be replaced. My local repair guy charges $75 just to look at the machine. I'll tyr to keep mine alive until the ink runs out then buy a new printer...not an HP!

I've been having same problem the last few months. Until now, the unplugging and/or entering in the key codes given on other sites worked (# 6, or # 3, or Red Eye Removal & Print Photos, etc). Nothing works now.. I keep getting the blue screen/code and message to turn power off, then on again. Has HP come up with a solution/explanation of this yet? I too had it set up as wireless and have tried using a printer cable instead, but just can't get the printer to work.
