I'm having the same problem and it is not specific to Windows 7 ... Same problem happens with Windows XP and the same driver version and on other computers with Windows 7 x64 or x32 and same printer.

 

Normal (single side) printout is fine and scaled down duplex printout happens in all applications (for example Word and Adobe Reader).

 

Machine has Windows 7 x64 SP1 with all patches installed, and HP printer driver 14.1 for Photosmart Premium 309a.

 

It would be very nice if HP actually gave some attention to this as this is not a cheap printer!
