Photosmart c4280 all-in-one printer - horrible clicking noise

Hi,

My Photosmart c4280 all-in-one printer makes this horrible clicking noise when I turn it on or print anything. Everything still works fine, there's just this loud clicking noise. I didn't get any error messages either.  I have tried turning it on and off and unplugging the power cord, but no luck. It appears to be coming from the carriage, near where the ink cartridges sit. When I move the cartridges manually, they move back into place, then the clicking starts.

I know this should probably be referred to a service place, but I was wondering if there is any advice on how to fix this myself, if at all possible, or even if anyone else has experienced this before.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. It seems to be related to the print head wiper.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Photosmart c4280 all-in-one printer - horrible clicking noise

I bit the bullet and bought a new printer. It appeared that there was a small plastic thing in the carriage that had broken at some point. After I accidentally broke that part some more by touching it, my printer was completely useless.

Good luck! I hope you find some good advice.

Re: Photosmart c4280 all-in-one printer - horrible clicking noise

Have followed the advice to clean the printhead carriage, I found on the web and its surroundings

Prints OK but it still clicks vigorously when switched ON or when it starts printing.

What is the next step???

Thanks

Joop
