Hi,
Any help appreciated. My printer is Photosmart C7280 All-in-One Printer.
As of 2 days ago my printer has not been working. It comes up with several error messages after I switch it on. The first one is "Ink system failure: Ink system has failed. Unable to copy, recieve faxes or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc19a0025. Turn power off then on again."
However when I turn power off then on again via the 'power' button, I get a message saying "improper shutdown". Then the same original error message comes up (0xc19a0025). This is the most frequent error message and won't go away. Then I also keep getting a message saying "Photo Tray Problem: Lift output tray up, verify the photo tray is pushed in until it stops, lower output tray". Despite the fact that I have not used the photo tray in several months and it is in the correct position.
So far I have tried switching the printer on and off several times using the power button. I also switched the printer off at the plug last night (after it had been properly shut down) and switched it back on this morning. I have looked through the printer documentation but could not find any troubleshooting advice for this kind of problem. I have updated the HP driver using software update on my mac, and the problem is still there.
I'm getting desperate now, I rely on my printer/scanner/photocopier a lot!
Thanks
Nathalie

Hi Nathalie,
I see that you are have an Ink System Issue primarily. There is a doc for the Ink System Error and below is the link for the same.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
There are a few steps you would have to try and would involve in removing and replacing the cartridges. Please follow the document and if does not help. Contact HP Support for help if the product is still in warranty as it may require to be serviced/replaced.
Hope this helps.. ![]()
Have a nice day.. ![]()

Thanks for the link, I gave it a go but had no luck... I went on a few forums and tried various resets etc and well now things have changed, can't say it's for the better though. I seem to have got rid of the problem of "ink system failure" and the refusal of the printer to print anything. Now instead I have a slightly more repsonsive printer that will print, but only blank pages... the new error seems to be "printhead cartridge alignment failed".
Don't suppose you have any tips for that?! ![]()
Thanks!

Sorry I should say that my operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.2. So the links on Vista and XP won't apply with regards to the blank pages... couldn't find one on Macs.

Hi Nathalie,
I regret the delayed reply.
I see that you have an alignment issue on the printer.
Please check the following link for the document addressing this issue

Hope this helps..

I have the HP All-In-One C309a and I am receiving the same error code. I am operating with Windows Vista (32 bit). The message on my printer says
Ink System Failure
0xc19a0025
Please Turn Printer Off and then On.
I turned if off and then on with no success. As of now it won't even turn off anymore I simply have to unplug it. As far as the error code is concerned I have used all the diagnostic tools on the hp website. I have tried...
disconnecting and reconnecting everything
cleaning the cartridge bay (as suggested in the link posted earlier in the thread)
uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and driver (2010-3-10 v14.1.0)
checked for updates (none applied to my machine)
used diagnostic tools available on the driver/software download page (2010-8-16 v3.0.0.013 and 2010-11-9 v4.0.0.007)
I even considered doing the firmware download (2009-7-16 v1.0) that seems as though it would be the correct solution but it does not recognize the printer as being connected and cannot proceed
What do you suggest I do now? The printer has hardly been used and we bought it new but I do not know if it is still under warranty. I am looking for the receipt now to find out but it really shouldn't need serviced as it is so new.
Also, not sure it matter but we only use the approved ink cartridges # 564 (new, not refilled) as suggested.
