Pictures that I print using a LaserJet CP1215 are always very dark and shadows in the pictures are blotchy blobs of ink. Faces look red and blotchy. If I lighten 20 to 30% that improves the quality but distorts the pictures. It's the same whether I print using a Windows Vista 32 Premium 32 bit or Windows 7 64 bit. There is little correlation between the picture on the screen and the dark blob on the paper. I use premium papers, only HP toner, do cleaning cycles, etc. It's not a new development, just getting worse.
