Power management for photosmart 5510

My photosmart 5510 printer is set up wirelessly, so when power is off, it will not wake up with wireless LAN or WAN (eprint) print jobs. Having to walk across the house to turn it on when i want to print a few ipad documents from my couch sort of defeats the purpose of a wireless setup. Is it okay to leave the power on for extended periods or will this decrease the lifespan of the ink or printer?

Re: Power management for photosmart 5510

Hi,

If the device is powered off, any job will not wake the product, this is how any HP product is designed,

The device provide energy save mode capabilities and the printer supposed to remain powered On regulary.

Not only the it will not decrease the ink cartridge lifespan, it will increase the ink life cycle suring the printer preparation steps.

As you may find listed within the user manual, the product supposed to remain powered while using the wireless connection:

TIP: If you are printing through a wireless or Ethernet connection over a network, Auto Power-Off should be disabled to ensure that print jobs do not get lost. Even when Auto Power-Off is disabled, the printer enters a Sleep mode after five minutes of inactivity to help reduce energy use.

Re: Power management for photosmart 5510

Thanks for the informative reply. The included literature that came with the printer did not seem to address this. Thanks for the link to the online user manual.
