Printer Problem

I have Windows Vista and HP Photosmart 5300 Series. A few weeks ago the printer stopped working. It will print 2 rows of strange characters or the first two lines of the page and then it pushes the paper out the printer. I do have an error that says low disk space, however I can't find out how to free up more space on my D drive. I have plenty of space on the C drive. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer 2 times and I'm still having the same problem.

 

Can anyone help me with this situation? The help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.
