How do I make my HP LaserJet P1102w printer stop emitting a high pitched "beep" when I print a document.  I am using Windows 8.1

Hi @HeatherStarrett

I see by your post that when you print the printer makes a high pitched beeping noise. I can help you with this.

Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.

Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:

1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
2. Check the memory chip for damage.
3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.

Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved.

Try and print a hardware self test on the printer.

Printing a Configuration Page.

Select Method two.

Let me know the results.

Have a nice day!
Thank You.

In the case of the HP M452dn laser printer when the printer in plugged into the UPS, the printer deeps, not the ups. Apparently the UPS modifies the power enough to set off the alarm built into the printer, but not the alarm built into the UPS. Plug the printer into a wall socket that meets the standard code for 120 Volts, Sixty Cycle, single phase power. Once you do the beeping will not occur when printing.
