Printing Text Straight to CD/DVD Using Photosmart C5380 Software

I want to print text straight to the CD/DVD not just in a little text box which is supplied by the template.

Surely there must be a Blank template which we can use?

Also with a windows interface so we can choose what type of font / size colour etc etc

I did a lot of research before buying this printer and have previosuly used a canon ip4300 which allows all these settings. Unfortuantely you cannot really research the support software with which comes with the machine. But if you purchase neato, etc software which comes with their labels you can layout the page exactly how you like it with warped or wrapped text etc etc?????

Any help in the above matter would be greatly appreciated......

You can use the templates from Roxio expres labeler software which comes with the printer or you can download it from hp website.

I have just purchased a C5380, I chose it because I wanted to print directly onto CD/DVD's.  I am so disappointed with the limited templates supplied. If this post is read by HP support can they let us know if there are any plans to improve this situation in the near future?  I expected to be able to mix and match any of my own pictures, clipart, background colours with any font, font size or font colour in patterns of my own choosing without invoking the extra expense and inconvenience of buying third party software which may or may not interface with the HP software. In all other respects I am (so far) happy with the C5380.

HELP!!! How can I print what 'I' want on to a DVD instead of the c**p layouts that are provided in the software designed for 2 t o7 year olds!? It is a disgrace that a company like HP can have such rubbish software, totally usless to anyone with a creative brain who wants control of their own design.

All I want to do is put a 'little' picture with my 'OWN' text on to the disc with the font and layout of my choosing!!!!.... How hard is that... well if you use HP, VERY HARD!

Bottom line, HP, go out and buy an EPSOM printer that does dvd/cd, see how easy it is to put what you want on the disc and where you want it, you can even print up to the centre hole, then copy the god **bleep** program and put it as an update on HP's website!! NOW!!!

If only could take the HP back to the shop I would! This will be going on FACEBOOK & MYSPACE and my own company website, to tell the truth to the millions who want a printer that is able to print their design, DONT BUY HP!!!

Totally agree, bad support and information. Bad user interface in printer. However, a small light in the tunnel.

-> I was successful in printing from Powerpoint. Set paper size to 13*13 cm, made sure everything was centered in a 12*12 cm (DVD size) circle. Should probably work from most drawing programs in that case.

-> I was successful in using Acoustica trial version for label printing. Note that you have to tell the printer to use CD/DVD source (a pop-up will remind you)

 downloaded freeware CD and DVD Label maker and it gives me a great working template I can add text/background, change font size colour etc, add photos

etc etc. Works well for me now despite the earlier disappointment at their software.

re the above CD and DVD Label Maker just make sure you go into Properties on the Print page after telling it to print and highlight 'Print on CD/DVD' from the 'Printing Shortcuts' list on the lefthand side otherwise you end up with the close the cd/dvd tray error message as it thinks it is printing from A4. Good luck.

Thanks for your comment. The software that apparently 'comes with the printer' is a mystery to me.  I'm wondering if you can please direct me to where you found this on the HP website. I've spent about 3 hours so far trying to make this very simple thing work.  It's driving me mad.

I bought the C5380 thinking it would be a simple plug in and print...what a pain.  The software that came with the printer wouldn't work because I use a Mac apparently and they say it's a compatible machine.  I downloaded what I needed to but can't find the software for the labels anywhere.  

I'd really appreciate your help as you sound like you got it sorted.  Thanks a lot.
