Good afternoon all. I have a C4580 and it is about a month old. When I print out something I get more copies than it states in preferences. Have just tried to print a rail e-ticket and I managed to notice it had printed off 6 copies. On the preferences tab in Properties it says that it should be doing only one copy. In the past it has printed 4 copies of something. I cannot say this is correct but I am sure that when I first started to print the e-ticket i thought I had seen it was going to print 100 copies.
Any advise would be gratefully appreciated.

I have recently picked up a similar problem.
C4580, wireless connection running Vista SP2, on aDell 1501 Inspiron laptop.
When selecting 1 copy of a 1 page document, 3 are printed.
Scuttling to open the printer and see what is happening for docs in the queue, under pages it says 3/1 pages.
But only one copy was requested on printing options tab. Quick print demonstrates the same problem.
Product is just over a month old, was working perfectly until a few days ago.
Now wasting ink and paper, and cancelling all documents in the printer each time is not the solution.
Anyone got any advice?

The same problem on a C309a was solved this way:
As reported into another post, I found a solution for this problem that affects prints from c309a with both Window Vista and Windows 7 (not Windows XP!).
I disabled "bidirectional support" in Properties->Ports and no more extra copies from my c309a.
