Scanning issues w/ HP Deskjet 1050 j410a

I've had this issue where when I double click the "HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series Scan" icon it does not load the HP scanning program. I am literally double clicking it, waiting and nothing loads. I even restarted my computer, downloaded the scanner diagnostics program etc. the machine itself is fine because i can still use the scanning component to photocopy and the connection of the printer to PC is fine because I can still print. 

I even reinstalled and deleted the software multiple times.

(this printer is quite new.)

 

so please help :smileyfrustrated::smileysad:

Hi dquilindo, 

 

Did the scan diagnostic utility indicate any issues?

 

If you install the printer on a different computer do you have the same issue?

I did not try it with another computer.

Hi dquilindo, 

 

Follow the steps below to check the WIA Service:

1. Type services.msc in run or search program and files

2. Scroll down to the WIA Windows Image Acquisition

3. Make sure that this service is running. Click Stop, and then Restart to make sure

4. Restart the computer

Thanks I solved the issue.
At first when I attempted to start the WIA it showed an error "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

If anyone gets this issue I solved it with this Solving error 1068

tried a few of the methods and eventually got it to work (setting the shell hardware detection to manual)

tried scanner diagnostics and the HP scanner window finally can run again.
