Swapping out inkjet cartridges

Hello.

The color cartridge for my 722c is running a little low, as evidenced by a pink or purple tint to all the photos I print, but the black one is still fine for everyday printing (text).

How badly would I be treating the cartridges and printer if I purchased new ones for occasional photo printing and swapped them out with the old cartridges when printing just text? (At least until I get the full life span from the current black cartridge.)

Thanks very much.

The problem would be where you store the color cartridge while it is not being used.  If you leave the new cartrdige out the nozzles will dry out.  If you try to retape the nozzles color mixing will likely occur.

You could replace the color cartridge and leave the black cartridge in place, there is no reason to replace the black cartridge before it is used up.
