I tried all the fixes you mention...nothing worked, and yes...disabling PnP causes problems on both ends. Even called HP for help. Over time the problem disappeared. My guess is that after releasing a buggy product that HP pushed out firmware updates, NEVER admitting that there was a problem. Curiously now the printer works flawlessly, albeit a little quirky.

I have a 7520 that doies the same thing. Disabling the upnp stops the continuous recyscling, but, obviously, HP hasn't bothered to fix the root cause of the problem.
HP has the worse software support. I am very dissapointed.
