Hello,
Try the following steps in order please.
1. Go into the "Printers and Faxes".
2. Right-Click the printer icon and Left-Click "Delete".
3. Remove the USB cable from the printer and computer.
4. Turn the Printer off, unplug the power cable from the printer.
5. Uninstall the software.
6. Turn the Computer off.
After the computer is turned off, wait a few moments, then turn the computer back on.
7. Plug the power cable back into the printer and turn the Printer on.
8. Install the software and follow the instructions on screen, (do not plug the USB cable in until the software says to).
After installation is complete, please post the outcome.
Thank you,
___________

Sadly, I am unable to download the driver for my printer on the HP site. Clicking on download continually gives me a box which says "425 Possible PASV Port Theft. Cannot Open data connection."
Can someone recommend a different safe site to do this?

Double U Dee and anyone reading this, I am pleased to report that SUCCESS has been achieved.
First, I had to keep trying and trying to make the download work, over and over. I took that tactic after reading that the PASV Port Theft error is random. So my theory was that if I kept trying, I'd eventually get the box to download. And I did.
And here's what I think was going on all along to cause my printer not to print suddenly: when I bought this printer and used it, everything was fine....except that about once a week, I would get a box that said my printer's driver was preventing my computer from hibernating (it used a different word, but the meaning is the same). I didn't pursue it.
So perhaps....by unplugging my printer and moving it all somewhere else, the driver problem finally reared it's ugly head, first with the OFF LINE box, then with simply the error message by the document as it just sat in queue..
AND, the problem I had when I twice DID uninstall it, and reinstalled it, is not disconnecting the USB cord. Because this time, when I did keep it disconnected, and only reconnected it when the installation process told me to....the printer then started to work.
Of course, the above is my theory. But I can say for a fact that installing correctly the third time was the charm.
Thank you Double U Dee. I followed your 8 steps to the T, and can now print. Pat yourself on the back and be sure and tell others that you give excellent computer advice!

That is great news! I was moments away from posting two links, one for basic and one for full Feature Software direct download.
Thank you for posting your results! Happy Printing!
If you wish to share my pat on the back, feel free to click the kudos button.

I had same problem.
temp fix is to turn radio off then back on. Then You can connect to printer via IE with the IP address, and under wireless settings/advanced check these boxes.
Also assign your printer a static IP address. One high enough so as not to interfer with DHCP settings of your
router.
Compatibility
In an infrastructure network use 802.11b behavior. |
In an ad hoc network use 802.11b behavior. |
In an ad hoc network act connected even when others are not present. |

Hi Everyone,
I've just had a similar problem with my printer - Photosmart C5180.
The printer was connected to a wireless router. On my laptop the print jobs would sit in the queue and of course the printer was off-line. Nothing I did seemed to work to resolve this. While searching the internet I stumbled upon this thread.
This problem was made worse because I'm using the windows 7 home edition which does not include the Print Management add-in. Microsoft - Grrrrrr!!!!
So how to get around this - using Double-U-Dee's post, the first couple of steps are easy. But how to delete the drivers etc without the print management add-in.
The link below relates to a problem encountered after upgrading to windows 7 from Vista.
However, Solution One does the trick. The downloaded tool removes the driver and package. After this is done, just reinstall the software package/drivers from CD. I actually downloaded the driver package from the website - a whopping 290mb. (My driver CD's dont work with windows 7).
Hope this helps someone
