With the move to Windows 7 my PSC 1500 (actually the 1507) lost the option to manually print duplex.
Driver used is:

Are you sure that the Enable Manual Duplex option, as highlighted below, is Enabled?

Thanks for your reply.
And yes, I checked before posting.
It says (in Dutch) Allow Manual Duplex [set]
Before Win7 there would be an option to select, to allow manual duplex.
But it looks like with the new driver, this option is either overlooked, not programmed or disabled.
Too bad, it is ecologically sensible, to print duplex.
Thanks anyway,
HermanB

It's right there! I have no idea why you can't get it to work.

Hi DexterM,
thanks again for your reply, but again, I checked this before posting.
In the Dutch version it shows Duplex printing, and the setting is Off. Clicking on it only gives the option Off again.
Rather frustrating....;-)

Hi DexterM,
From http://www.hp.nl/diagnose/ I received a very unsatisfactory answer {ticketno:[8031856332]}:
Quoting in my translation: "....... These functions simply do not work under Windows 7 due to a different technique and therefore it is decided to remove this [functionality] from the driver. This may also apply to the manual duplex printing. I am of the opinion that no new driver will be developed for this [HP 15x printer] and that this function cannot be used thru the driver. ........."
I have asked for an escalation of this problem, but have not received any human reaction so far.
Your answer clearly indicates that the manual duplex printing function is present in the driver you are referring to, so I wonder if it's functionality is reduced in my version by mistake, compilation error or something similar.
Is access to an english version possible and practicable on a Dutch language PC?
Many thanks for your help!

I see no reason why the option got disabled on the Dutch version. Either you're doing something wrong, or the driver is actually written that way. But I do not know how to install the English driver on the Dutch version. Sorry.

I don't think he is doing anything wrong. ![]()
I have an HP photosmart 2100 printer, which allows manual duplexing in windows XP. Yet this functionality does not exist in windows 7. Under Printer Properties >> Device Settings I have the option to allow manual duplexing. It is set to enabled, yet I am not presented with the option to do this in the print dialog. This is the standard english driver for the priinter available on the HP website.
There must be a compatibility issue with the vista/7 drivers and manual duplexing.

Edit: Maybe this will help someone else.
Under Printer Properties >> Device Settings the option to allow manual duplexing was set to enabled by default. Although it was enabled, the option to manually duplex was not available in the print dialog. In playing around today, I set manual duplex to disabled, applied changes, set it back to enabled, and re-applied changes. Now I have the option to manual duplex in my print dialog. Something must have just been quirky after the install. Setting off and back on worked for me.
I should also note that I allowed HP software to update web printing for IE, but I don't believe that to be the reason this now works. ![]()

Hi Kyle,
Great guess!
I did follow your suggestions, and initially nothing seemed changed. (But of course I may be wrong there).
So next I sandwiched shutdowns in between the settings changes. And bingo!, the manual duplex option appeard after the second re-start.
Later I also noticed that the paper format A4 had now correctly replaced the Letter format, that kept being announced as setting.
So there IS something wrong in the driver, but it seems to be just the initial settings.
Thanks to DexterM and you!
HermanB
