c4380 Incompatible print cartridge

I have valid cartridges in my printer - genuine HP 350 XL and 351XL.  I use an iMac.  I am up to date with the drivers.  In the middle of printing I got the message "Incompatible print cartridge(s)."  Does anyone have any ideas other than to replace the cartridges?

Re: c4380 Incompatible print cartridge

I believe the ink cartridge you have there is incompatible.

The compatible ink Cartridges for the Photosmart C4380 are 74 and 75 (whether it is XL or not)...

Here is the link for the compatible ink cartridges for that printer:

Re: c4380 Incompatible print cartridge

Thanks for your reply but these cartridges were suggested by the Shopping card that comes with the printer and this may be the difference between the UK and US market.

Re: c4380 Incompatible print cartridge

I have the exact problem but in reverse. I put a new and genuine 75XL tricolor cartridge in my HP All-in-One C5280, but the message on the printer says "Cartridge in slot on left is not intended for use in this printer". Seems like I have the European printer, which only accepts the European version of the cartridge (351XL) but not the US version (75XL). This is completely nutty, because both cartridges are physically and functionally IDENTICAL, but looks like HP has crippled their cartridges so as to limit their customers to buy in only certain regions of the world.

So here's what I suggest. I have the 75XL but need the 351XL. You have a 351XL but need the 75XL. We should just swap our cartridges and the problem will be solved. Or if anyone else is interested in a similar swap, please send me a private message here. Thanks!

Re: c4380 Incompatible print cartridge

Hi

I had the same problem when I tried to use my UK purchased printer in Australia.  I went on the the on line chat supprt and the technician talked me through how to change the region code to Australia.  The printer now recongnises locally purchased ink cartridges.

Re: c4380 Incompatible print cartridge

Hi, I have a Photosmart C4380 all in one and I'm curious if 56 & 57 cartridges are compatible with this printer?

The C4380 uses 74/75 cartridges (or others depending on your region, see the HP SureSupply site for details.)  The 56 and 57 cartridges are from a previous generation and are completely incompatible with this printer.

Re: c4380 Incompatible print cartridge

I am having the same problem with my printer i purchased in Australia with 74 and 75 catridges. Now in the Uk the 350 and 351 catridges are what they say to use but it does not work. I have read about this regonalization reset but can't seem to find any info on how to do it or be able to contact HP as it says my product is out of warranty.

Can anyone help with how they sorted this problem

Thanks

Re: c4380 Incompatible print cartridge

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.
