Re: c4450 card stock (avery 8371 business card stock) margin printing problems

I've even returned the printer.  They sent me a new printer, an "upgrade".  This one won't even install.  HP Tech Support logged onto my computer and caused problems that were never there before.  Now they refuse to answer my calls.

I will never purchase another HP Product!

Fail.

HP printers do not print out Avery or other brand business card sheets with any repeatability.

Where are the so called Printer Experts now? Where are you- yooooo hooo?

Re: j4680 card stock (avery 8371 business card stock) margin printing problems

I have the same problem and have tried all of the different paper settings. I wonder why there is no setting for card stock? I am Using Publisher '07 and a J4550 All-In-One.  I don't recall this problem before I upgraded to Windows 7 and Office 7.  HP Please help.

Have you tried using the Avery software to print the 8371?

Re: c4450 card stock (avery 8371 business card stock) margin printing problems

Wow, lots of feedback.  I had the same problem with the business cards.  I tried the first solution using "presentation paper" as the paper type and that seemed to work fine.  I agree it is a pain, clearly a design problem, and something that should be covered in the help somewhere.  Since business card printing is done by a lot of folks that should be one of the default buttons set up in the preferences.

Later I tried printing an envelop.  Same issue.  Prints fine on plain paper shaped like an envelop, but on a real envelop it slides the image back a half inch or so.  This puts the return address beyond the edge of the paper.  I hope the presentation paper works with that, though it is hard to imagine that the paper size (#10 envelop would have to be specified differently from the paper type.)

I wonder if someone actually uses these printers before going into production for doing real work.

Best

Re: c4450 card stock (avery 8371 business card stock) margin printing problems

SOLVED! Try this fix! The key is to fool the printer software into thinking it's printing on plain, not expensive glossy or heavy weight paper.  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-printing-questions/Solved-All-in-Ones-Misalignment-on-Costco-or-H...

Re: c4450 card stock (avery 8371 business card stock) margin printing problems

Always understood that everyone is recommending solutions and they are volunteers.

No venom ever attempted - just pointing out the lack of solution for a common problem.  There was this expert day or weekend and it seemed like no one wanted to pick up this business card problem yet seemily much more extensive and complex software problems were tackled. It was ironic that those complex problems were solved but nothing on a physical paper/card feed problem yet reference all of the frustrated users with this problem.

I tried multiple solutions to the problem on my own and via the recommendations of others in the forum. Some seemed to work then failed, others never worked at all.

This is an HP branded forum- surely HP corporate and engineering monitors the forum for trending issues and problems.

HP printers have a specific problem with interaction with this business card printing.Older HP printers did not seem to have this issue. Query- what has changed?

Figure only a small percentage of people who own HP printers with this problem are willing to query this forum (for whatever reason- time, finding the forum, signing on, etc). So these people may be the tip of the iceberg for this problem and these people are from all levels of computer experience- not just new users to HP. Some have years of HP product use under their belts.

Everyone will see reports by multiple people that HP customer service says "Avery's problem-call them" and then Avery saying "HP's problem- call them."  When a company says it doesn't have problems yet the reported issues show otherwise- then that is a problem.

Do you have a proposed solution to this problem of business card printing margin issues?
