Re: how do i get rid of original loaded message on screen on l7680

If you are getting a meesage "Original Document Loaded" even when there is no paper loaded in the top of the printer (ADF) that tells me that the paper loaded sensor is not working correctly. You can check to see if the sensor lever is stuck by opening the access door on top of the printer where the paper gets loaded, you will see a small black or white lever sticking up that gets pushed down by loading paper. If the lever is sticking up without any paper loaded and you are receiving the message then the sensor is faulty. If the lever is stuck in the down position the printer assumes that paper is loaded and you receive the message. At this point you can try to lift the lever to the upright position and the message should go away. If the lever does not stay up by itself you need service on the unit.

dqmcg provided a really good explanation of the issue and troubleshooting steps to try. If the issue persists after trying the troubleshooting steps then the paper sensor in the ADF is now malfunctioning. Has it ever worked before? Check where the paper sensor is and see if there are any debris or obstructions on where it gets triggered.

There is no obstruction. The paper sensor is in place and swings freely. There is nothing blocking anything in the ADF. It worked fine until there was an automatic driver update. I have used the ADF maybe 3 times; I almost always scan/fax/copy from the flatbed. Can still scan, but can't fax or copy. I'm pulling an Office Space with this **bleep** printer getting a Canon. Have also had it with the ink cartridges "running out" after printing 12 pages.
