hp c7280 paper jamming and out of paper message

Nine times out of ten when I go to print, I get a paper jam.  If not, i get a message that I am out of paper when it is actually a paper jam.  Not sure but I think it could be the rollers?

If anyone has this problem and it is rollers, are they easy to change?  Which set do I change- the ones on the lift out cartridge or the ones inside printer or both?  Just purchase and replace or take the printer to a dealer?

Re: hp c7280 paper jamming and out of paper message

Hi,

I would try cleaning the rollers as described in this document Paper Jam.  You might watch the video to see if there are spots where hidden pieces of paper might reside that could be causing the paper jam, too.  Cleaning the rollers is step 3 in the document.

Re: hp c7280 paper jamming and out of paper message - >>> Additional Step <<<

When I cleared the initial jam, I knew there was a piece of paper left behind, as the top edge of the paper that was removed was torn during its removal. I went through every step in the video but still was receiving the paper jam error. As mentioned in the video my carriage was docked on the right side of the printer but as a last result I unplugged the power and I was able to “VERY GENTLY” pull my carriage out to the left side of the printer and BINGO, there was the piece of torn paper that was left behind and causing the continued error. I was able to very easily remove the torn piece of paper from the docking area, after which i gently pushed the carriage back in to it's docking position,  plugged the power cord back in and now my printer is once again operational. Wooo Whooo !!!

Hi Texzeen,

I am glad the video helped to resolve your issue, and the unplugging the power and sliding the carriage to the left side.  Pieces of paper can "hide".
