hp psc 2000 Series, Model 2410 photo smart all in one series. Operating system Windows 7. Suddenly takes an hour to photo copy or print. no error message. Print carriage access door may have been opened during a previous printing session. Disconnecting power from unit and restarting and removing and reinserting cartridges has no effect.

This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges. I do not recall if the PSC 2410 sill support printing (not copying) with a cartridge removed in reserve mode, but try the following: remove the black cartridge and print a test page. Does the printer print at normal speed? Is so the black cartridge was the issue and should be replaced. If not then put the black cartridge back in and remove the color cartridge and print test page. If the printer now prints normal speed the color cartridge was at fault and needs to be replaced.

Amazing......thank you so much. After doing ALL the troubleshooting I could find, I saw your response. And although I couldn't get it to print at all without the cartridge in place, I went ahead and changed it, and that fixed the problem. Thank you for advise.

I bought two-pack black ink cartridges for my HP deskjet 3050 A J611h. When I used the first one, it slowed down printing. If I continue to use it in reserve mode as previously suggested - to get the printer back to normal speed, it might damage my printer. Should I return the pack to the retailer and report that both cartridges are defective?

I would suggest removing the cartridge and cleaning the contacts on the cartridge and printer as shown in this document. If that does not resolve the issue then replace the cartridge with the other fresh one. If this resolves the issue then I would return the first cartridge for a replacement or Contact HP.
Running the printer in reserve mode will not damage it, but printing with only the color cartridge installed will be more expensive than printing with the black cartridge.
